Milpitas Youth Soccer League FAQs


+ HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD?

The easiest way is to register is online or attend one of our scheduled registration events listed in the Fall/Spring Flyer. Complete the registration form; provide a 1”x1” photo (U14 and above); provide proof of age – birth certificate, passport or Green Card.

+ CAN I REGISTER BY MAIL?

No, we do not accept mail-in registrations.

+ FRIEND / TEAM REQUEST

If you have a specific request for your child to play with a friend; a coach; or a team you can make it on the 3rd line of the registration form.

+ DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN MILPITAS?

No, the league is primarily set up for Milpitas residents but we do accept players from surrounding communities.

+ UNIFORMS

Uniforms are currently $40 for a jersey, shorts, and socks. If you have already purchased a uniform you do not have to purchase a new one each year.

+ HOW DO I BECOME A COACH?

On your child’s registration form, check the “Coach” box in the Parental Support section on the right. All Adults working with kids as Coaches, Managers, and Assistant Coach will be required to complete background checks and fingerprinting. MYSL will provide instructions on how to proceed with these requirements. The Background check is done online every year and fingerprinting is done one time.

+ WHAT’S THE PRACTICE SCHEDULE & LOCATION?

Teams usually practice twice a week in the early evening, lasting 1-1 ½ hours. The practice schedule and location will be set up by the team coach after teams are formed.

+ WHEN WILL PRACTICE START?

Your child’s coach will provide you with the practice schedule and location after teams are formed: Fall soccer – mid-August; Spring soccer – mid-March.

+ WHAT ELSE WILL I HAVE TO BUY?

You will need to buy soccer shoes (cleats) and shin guards.

+ WHAT TIME ARE GAMES?

Games take place on Saturday and/or Sunday, usually between 9 AM and 8 PM

+ WHEN WILL I HEAR FROM SOMEONE?

You will hear from the team coach after registration is complete and teams have been setup and coaches assigned, the coach will contact you.

+ AGE GROUPS

Players must play in the appropriate age group based on their birth year. The parent can request that they play UP one group (older team) but they cannot play in a lower age group.

+ HOW CAN I BECOME A REFEREE?

+ HOW CAN I CONTACT THE LEAGUE?

To contact the league, send an e-mail to [email protected]. E-mails are usually answered within 24 – 48 hours during soccer season.
